Long-Distance Delivery · UK

One pickup, one drop-off, a clear price by the mile.

Flash Drive Long-Distance moves single consignments across the UK with vetted contractors and transparent per-mile pricing. Customers see the courier's name, vehicle and ETA the moment we dispatch.

✓ Per-mile pricing ✓ Couriers up to £500/day ✓ Vetted contractors ✓ Customer ETA + vehicle reg ✓ Vans to LGVs

Simple per-mile pricing

One rate per mile, agreed when the job is booked. Google Maps confirms the exact mileage. Each party sees only their own price — your rate stays private.

🧾

For customers

You get a single quote based on your pickup, drop-off and vehicle class. The mileage is confirmed by Google Maps before you confirm.

🏢

For contractors

Flash Drive offers you a per-mile rate when we route a job to you. You see only your rate. Accept the job and the platform handles the rest.

🚐

For couriers

Your contractor sets your per-mile rate when they assign a job. You see your rate × the mileage = what you take home. Confirm before pickup.

Higher-value or non-standard vehicles (Luton, LGV) command higher per-mile rates. Get a quote to see the exact price for your job.

For long-distance couriers

Earn up to £500 a day on the road

Long-distance pay scales directly with miles covered. The more miles you do, the more you take home — there's no per-day cap.

What does up to £500/day look like?

Example: a courier at £1.20/mi who covers 400 miles in a day = £480. Bigger vehicles (Luton, LGV) at higher rates can take you over £500 on long-haul runs.

Your rate and the job's mileage are both shown before you accept — no surprises.

⚠️ You cover your own expenses

As a self-employed courier, you're responsible for all costs related to each delivery: fuel, tolls, parking, vehicle wear, your own meals, accommodation if needed for overnight runs. Factor these in when you decide whether a job's per-mile rate is worth it for you.

🛡️ Insurance: 3 policies required

Long-distance courier work legally requires Hire and Reward motor cover, Goods in Transit (min £100k) and Public Liability (min £1m). Most contractors hold a fleet policy and add their couriers as named drivers — solo independents buy their own.

Common questions

How is the mileage calculated?

By Google Maps Distance Matrix at the moment the job is created. We use the shortest standard route between the pickup and drop-off postcodes. The mileage is fixed on the customer invoice and on every layer below.

What insurance do contractors need?

Hire-and-Reward motor insurance, Goods-in-Transit (≥ £100,000), Public Liability (≥ £1,000,000), and Employer's Liability where applicable. Documents are uploaded and verified during application.

How do I become a long-distance contractor?

Submit the application form, upload your insurance docs and four photos of your vehicle (front, back, both sides). Flash Drive admin reviews within 1–2 working days. Approved contractors receive sign-in details and add bank details + a profile selfie before accepting their first job.

How do couriers get paid?

The contractor (their employer or the business they work under) pays them at the per-mile rate agreed when the job was assigned. Pay schedule is set by the contractor — typically fortnightly or monthly.

Who handles customer support?

Flash Drive's platform admin is the single point of contact for the customer. Contractors handle the operational side. Couriers contact the customer only for pickup / drop-off coordination.

Can I do multi-drop and long-distance from one account?

Yes — Flash Drive lets contractors run both pipelines from one platform. The same drivers can be enabled for multi-drop, long-distance, or both. A switcher in the app header lets you flip between the two sides.
